The Portland Jazz Festival next year could not be hold the next year due to accute lack of funds,one of the organizers declared to Kacey Montoya . He said the the organizers lost the main sponsor of the festival and if they won't raise at least $100,000 until February,the festival will be canceled.Kacey Montoya says that the festival began in 2004 and had a hugh impact over the Portland's small jazz community.
Since 2004,the festival was held each year in February.Qwest,as Kacey Montoya found , was the main sponsor of this festival,contributing with $50,000 at the festival's budget.As we found out,this year Qwest announced the organizers that they won't be able to contribute at the festival's budget,due to the severe economy imposed by the new manager of the company.Kacey Montoya says that most of the sponsors reduced their contributions and since no new sponsors signed on,the Portland Jazz Festival could dissapear since next year.
